Ithaca College turns 125 this year! The campus hosted a spectacular party the first weekend of November, which kicked off with the inauguration of IC’s new president, Dr. Shirley Collado.
Everything about inauguration felt like a new start for IC. Dr. Collado is positive and honest and vibrant and thoughtful, and I’m really looking forward to IC’s future under her leadership.
The weekend continued with concerts and tours and lunches and reunions, but I kept wandering the outdoors– that center quad of campus really brings smiles to people’s faces, from the fountains to the Textor fish and everything in between.
My 12-hour day culminated in this epic community celebration of the college’s milestone birthday, featuring performances, ice cream, demonstrations, dancing, hugs, videos, and blinky flashy necklaces. If I had any doubts that I hadn’t gotten all my steps in yet that day, I’m sure I doubled my mileage during this one– stages on all 4 sides of the giant event center featured performances back to back and had me running laps, but it was worth it.
